Busy bees!

We have been quite busy here lately. The state has a program that will reimburse partial expenses to upgrade the efficiency of a person's home. Our house was a 1*.... we had 18 months to upgrade what we could. After replacing windows, doors, furnace and hot water heater...we are now a 3* !!!
So needless to say, while replacing the furnace and hot water heater, the downstairs was a royal mess. I've been organizing and putting things back..and putting some things in a pile to donate to the upcoming Hospice Rummage sale.
I was getting quite twitchy not being able to sew.. I have so many things I want to sew before convention the end of May!
I finally was able to get back in the sewing room the last couple days... I finished a blouse...The Funked Out Peasant Top by lila tueller. I have a couple more stashes that I want to make into that top... It went together quick and easy.
This is some of Anna Maria Horner's new voile... it is SUPER SOFT... it is destined to be another Funked Out Peasant Top....

And this is the Funked Out Peasant Top.. not very funked out... very mellow...
I finally got to take a quilt class... and this was what we did! I sure learned a bunch! Not to mention learning about my new machine... and the quarter foot and other attachments. With this new machine I should be able to free motion quilt this and then machine bind it... that may be next winter's project. As the days get longer, the fish start running, and my babysitting husband disappears in the boat... So my sewing Saturdays are reserved for Winter, Spring and Summer... I think I get the better end of the deal! =-)

This is my sewing space...and photo studio....and kids play area... and computer area... and such... It is a bit more organized than before... but I think that I organize best in piles...
I love Eddie Bauer shirts...but living with kids...and my messy self... I get lots of spots... so I was glad to find a tutorial to refashion my shirts into a skirt for Aubrey... The color is off in the photo.... it is a magenta with dark purple strips....

We have had some really nice days lately...so had to have a picnic on the deck!!

We went to the beach and this was Carson's hat of choice...

Aubrey is getting so big! I measured the kids tonight... Aubrey is just over 3 ft tall.. Carson is about 3.4 inches taller than her. Folks often mistake Aubrey for being 3 instead of 2.

During quite time, Carson made this airplane all from his imagination... I think he is going to be an engineer! He loves puzzles... and fighter planes.

It is hard to believe he will be 5 this fall! This Saturday there is an open house at the pre-school. I think we'll do a couple days a week next fall.. ease us both into it. He will thoroughly enjoy the learning... I just worry about the social. He is quite sensitive... and can be somewhat of a cry baby.. if someone takes something from him he just dissolves into tears. He can be kinda ornery too... taking toys from Aubrey..."cuz I wanted it"
Well, I should head to bed.. and really shouldn't cut out the skirt I want to make for me... really shouldn't.... cuz tomorrow I REALLY need to do dishes and laundry and pick up and vacuum....all those things that fall by the wayside when I start sewing. And it looks like the weather will be nicer (no rain) and the kids are feeling better (been sick) so we need to get outside. I told Carson he could ride his bike on our road if I was out with him.... so need to do that... Really don't have time to sew any more this week... boo hoo...
We are headed to Fairbanks next week. Danny has an Energy Conference to attend and the kids and I are riding along... (11 hrs with 2 kids...are we crazy???) It will be fun to see more of the interior and get some shopping done...they have a Joann's....and a few quilt stores...OH DEAR! HIDE THE CREDIT CARD!!!!
