AHH Therapy!

Have you ever read "Eat Cake" by Jeanne Ray? It guarantees that baking is therapy.....

and so it is! This is a hilarious story, so make time to read it!

I love my "Cake Mix Dr" cookbooks... take a cakemix and make a masterpiece!

My favorite part is the frosting... I love frosting and love the decorating...this one is simple but oh so tasty!

Quilting and reading are also therapy...but today I needed baking therapy...I guess I also needed the chocolate...Yummy. Some days you just need chocolate!

To bake or not to bake?

It has been a long winter...I am going stir crazy. Thankfully we are getting out in a week and I know I have lots to do next week. But in the mean time....I WANT TO BAKE A CAKE... that isn't such a bad thing. But I am also trying to cut calories and cake is synonymous with calories! So, do I bake a cake and feel good...or do I not and miss my cake? Yeah, I could bake it and give it away...but the fun is eating it!

Time flies

Hard to believe that Aubery is a year old! This year went faster than Carson's first year. I had Fords come help me take pictures.. hard to blow bubbles and shoot at the same time. And the bubbles kept her in one place... lately when I try to take her picture she comes to me... hard to get her in focus! =-) She was so cute this morning sitting in Carson's rocking chair rocking her baby and singing to her! Such a little mommy already! I'll have to get a video of that!

We had a nice spring break with temps up to 42...AHHH. Aubrey loved being outside and after the ice melted she loved going for little walks. Carson was teaching her how to stomp in the puddles... too cute! So now anytime we get dressed to go out to the car...she wants to get down and walk around. But it is back to 9 degrees and wind chill of 25 below! So we can't stay out very long. I am sure looking forward to getting out and going south in a couple weeks. won't be any warmer...but there will be places to go inside where it is warm....and resturants...(seeing as the only place open for supper is the Elks for burgers on Fri and tacos on tues.).....and shopping! Can't wait to hit some quilt stores to see displays and feel the fabrics... more fun than shopping online!

whining

If anyone isn't interested in hearing some whining... please ignore...

Am I the only mother of 2 who can't keep up with the house, dishes and laundry all at the same time? Something is always piling up and I am tired of piles, but picking up doesn't seem to do much good. 2 hours later the toys and books are all over the floor again. And as soon as we wear clothes...they need washed.. and those dishes too! Why can't they clean themselves?!? OK, I am getting ridiculous, but sometimes that is how I feel! Maybe I should just face it and admit that I am lazy because I do like to sit down and read a book or check blogs or sales online. I try to do that only after the kids are in bed, but still doesn't seem like there is enough time to do it all! Maybe we should have more company.. .that seems to be the only time that I get the dishes and house picked up. Laundry still lags... but 2 out of 3 is good, right?!? SO COME SEE US!

Early Birthday

With family here, we celebrated Aubrey's 1st birthday a bit early...(She'll turn 1 on Jan 13th)

I call her bug, so thought to do a lady bug cake.. but as she is walking she bumbles around alot...so here is what I came up with...

She was so dainty about it all and hardly made a mess!
