If anyone isn't interested in hearing some whining... please ignore...
Am I the only mother of 2 who can't keep up with the house, dishes and laundry all at the same time? Something is always piling up and I am tired of piles, but picking up doesn't seem to do much good. 2 hours later the toys and books are all over the floor again. And as soon as we wear clothes...they need washed.. and those dishes too! Why can't they clean themselves?!? OK, I am getting ridiculous, but sometimes that is how I feel! Maybe I should just face it and admit that I am lazy because I do like to sit down and read a book or check blogs or sales online. I try to do that only after the kids are in bed, but still doesn't seem like there is enough time to do it all! Maybe we should have more company.. .that seems to be the only time that I get the dishes and house picked up. Laundry still lags... but 2 out of 3 is good, right?!? SO COME SEE US!

Ok, for starters, you are NOT the only mother who battles this. And, I was under the impression that as my girls got older, the mess would be less. Bad news: NOT TRUE! It gets worse. Then, add a husband who is injured and has been off work for a year. It never gets all done. At one point in time, I worked side-by-side with my husband building trusses, 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, doing a man's job. THEN, I got to come and do the Mom job such as laundry, homework, baths, dinner, etc. And I always had something in the crockpot ready to take for lunch for the truss plant crew the next day. Come Saturday evening, I was COMPLETELY wiped out and spent most of Sundays catching up on sleep.
And I have to tell you a funny...this is how bad it is. Anytime (which isn't often) I get the urge to clean house and start making everybody pitch in, the girls' first question is "who's coming to visit?" Can you tell we only clean house when we're getting company. Imagine their befuddled looks when I say "Nobody, I just can't stand a dirty house any longer" But, just enjoy your days with your children. The house will still be there, dirty or clean, and as long as there are clothes to wear, let the laundry be. Dishes can be washed on an AS NEEDED basis (FROM EXPERIENCE). The important thing is spending every moment you can with your little ones because again, personal experience has taught me that you blink and the next thing you know, your oldest is heading into Junior High and your "baby" is almost a 4th grader. Make ya' feel any better? Good luck, hang in there!
I know exactly how you feel!! And you know what...that is just how we are! Don't stress out, and do what makes you feel good. Mine is laundry, I hate the feeling of hopelessness I get when there are baskets of unfolded laundry. So, I try to stay on top of that. But the dishes, well...I like when the 'dishes fairy' comes, but it sure don't come every day!! :)
