Mud Pie

Some of the Fords came over for a watergun fight this afternoon... but Carson didn't like being shot...so we filled up the pool...
Amber, Naomi (in blue swimsuit), Bethany peaking from behind her...Aubrey, Dawson and Carson outside the pool.
Then while Amber and Dawson washed the car, Carson and Bethany made a river and mud puddles...
Bethany gave her feet a mud treatment...

Mummmm...feels good!

What a cutie!

Carson is putting the mud pie in the oven to bake...anyone want a taste?

Giving Bethany a driving lesson....

So fun to have kids close in age that play well together! So nice to also have wonderful weather this summer!

WYPR Train Trip

Carson is all ready to go with Huckle tucked into his teddy bear "pack-pack"

Our diesel locomotives
Shannon and Owen and Carson...

Carson showing Huckle the Skagway River

Looking down the steep canyon at the river...it only gets steeper!

Aubrey wasn't too impressed, but did good. Maybe because I plied her with snacks the entire trip of 3 hrs!

Crossing a bridge with a beautiful river below..
Neat history... Check out the White Pass and Yukon Route web site

Hard to capture the awsomeness of the mountains...

An old bridge that was an amazing feat of building... the whole railway is an amazing accomplishment!

Well, bummer can't see it but there is a train along a tiny ledge getting ready to cross a bridge and head into a tunnel...We'll be up there shortly...

One side of the train was VERY close to the rocks...

And the other side was very close to a STEEP drop off!

Crossing the trestle and headed into the tunnel...

OOPss guess that was all I got... hard to keep track of 2 kids and get good photos, but we had fun. The kids were tuckered out after the train and then some time at the park and a tad bit of shopping. We took the ferry back and got home about 4pm... a great day. I bet Carson will want to do it again next year! Thankfully they have a local's day with more reasonable prices!

New Skirt

I have really enjoyed the book "Sew What Skirts"
They tell you how to make a skirt by taking your own measurements. Since Mom was here and could occupy the kids, I was able to do some fiddling and got the matching skirt/jumper done and this one also. I love this Heather Bailey fabric and love the pleats. It's a bummer that I didn't buy enough material and it ended up shorter than I am comfortable wearing to meeting. guess it will end up being an everyday skirt. I might just have to order more and make another one. There are a couple more color ways in this pattern I like.....=-)

busy, busy!

These are in random order....
We had a wonderful Mother's Day.. Was so nice to have my Mom here along with Dad and Grandpa McElroy.
We had Mother's Day Brunch at Hotel Halsingland, a very nice gourmet restaurant. Absolutely yummy!
I made matching jumper for Aubrey and skirt for me! Fun!

The moms.... and the kids....
The night Nana, Poppy and Grandpa got here we had a bonfire on the beach. Carson is checking out a tide pool..
And all the kids had to throw rocks in the ocean!

Great Grandpa, Poppy and the Kids...

Poppy and Aubrey...

We sure enjoyed having my folks and grandpa up. Nana spoiled me, doing dishes and laundry and watching the kids while I sewed! Dad and Danny tore off the rotting deck and got most of it back up. The lumber store had told us that we didn't need to order wood... then found out that we did... UGG.
A little less than 2 weeks till we head to Juneau for convention. Due to the Ferry schedule we will be going down Sunday or Monday as there isn't another ferry till Friday and that just doesn't work!. We'll get some doctering done and some shopping done.. watch out CostCo here we come! =-)
We have had a wonderful spring so far and since today is another sunny day, after Aubrey gets up we are going to get some flowers to plant. Planning to hike to Battery Point with Shannon and Owen tomorrow morning. Hope everyone is enjoing their spring and had a wonderful Mother's day.
