Growing tree..

Miss JJ has been a great student teacher and Friday was her last day, so we HAD to have a party. I made these Kabobs... cheesecake dipped in chocolate and rice crispy treats and marshmellows dipped in candy melt. YUM!

This is the 2011-2012 Kindergarten Class.. Mrs Degan is holding the project we did for Miss JJ (Seated)

Carson lost 2 teeth.. but the other ones had grown in behind.. I told him he was a shark...getting his second row of teeth!

This is the project we did for Miss JJ.

It's spring! YAY!

I made a cake for the American Legion's auction to raise money for the Moving Wall project.

the boots are rice crispies covered with chocolate candy clay.. the flag and dog tags are hand painted candy clay. It was quite fun to make! Oh, yeah, the inside is a red white and blue checkerboard using the new checker board kit Mom got me for my birthday! Thanks MOM! =-)

Starfish in the sand...

New wall downstairs... I LOVE IT!

This was a week or so ago... the crockies are done blooming and the snow is nearly gone. Just the giant piles that are vanishing quickly!

One day last week was an extreme low tide, so we went looking for treasures.. the kids found tons of star fish..

our new bathroom.. color is alcapoco sand.. Love my new closet organizer...

And the new wall downstairs painted Key Largo... and the quilt wall hanging I finally finished..

designed, pieced, quilted all by me!

Forgot to take picts of the quilting.. it was the 2nd project I did free motion. I did bubbles, or pebbles in pink thread.

Awww...

I am delighted when my cakes turn out in reality like they are in my head. I haven't done much modeling with candy clay...but this little doggie turned out cute! I made the cake for the Haines Animal Rescue kennel's (HARK) dessert auction. It is a new flavor.. coconut cake with lime curd filling and coconut buttercream. YUM!

This bulb box cake is for the Big Brothers Big Sisters fund raiser, silent auction. It is a spice cake with orange marmelade filling and cinnamon sour cream frosting. the flowers were piped with candy melts.

This next weekend is an auction for the American Legion. they are trying to raise money to support a visit from the Vietnam Moving Wall. I've got a grand idea in mind... hope it turns out as well. Not sure what flavor though?!?! Any ideas?!?!

snow anyone?

It's snowing again. Imagine that... it is March... we do expect snow in March. It usually snows during spring break. We didn't even attempt to got anywhere today. If the snow is up the the middle of the car tires, I know I'll have trouble getting out of the driveway. I am thinking next year we'll need 4 wheel drive, if I don't want to homeschool Carson!

Carson was jumping off the deck into the snow! Whee!

with all the snow falling off the roof, I can't see out!
I made a quilt cake for my birthday. There is a 9 patch hidden inside..with a Lone Star on top and some squiggle quilting on the sides.

catchin' up

We've had quite the winter this year.

it started off with about 11 ft of snow in November...followed by lots of rain the first 2 weeks of December...then we headed south, where there wasn't much snow... it was snowing in Haines while we were gone! We had a wonderful time down south, but came home to rain in the basement...we'd left the faucet on so the pipes wouldn't freeze, but instead it leaked all over... the good news is that we get a new kitchen floor, and a new bathroom floor and vanity and sink.. new carpet downstairs and on the stairs...and some new paint and drywall in various places. It will be wonderful when it is all done...in the meantime...it is interesting to be living in a construction zone...

while we were south, we were excited to find out that my brother is getting married!!! this is a collage of some of their engagment picts...

We went down south for Danny's youngest brother's wedding and in the process got some family picts on the beach. the kids were part of the wedding...too cute! we had a wonderful time with family, that we had seen the last time at the funeral of a dear aunt. we made it to lego land.. all those picts are on Danny's camera, so that might have to be another post... The kids LOVED it!!! We thought the waits in line weren't really worth the rides...but it was for the kids!

we'd like to go again....someday! As soon as we got back it was Aubrey's birthday. She wanted Strawberry Short Cake...and it was actually a very simple cake, since I just added the toys!

The night before her party we had the scraps for her at home "party"

My brother's dog has to get involved in the hugs!

Aubrey has been afraid of dogs and I don't blame her...but when she screams bloody murder when this little guy looks at her, it can be annoying! This trip she finally was able to get close to him. He is such a cute dog I wanted to bring him home with me!

The kids watching Danny tear up the bathroom....

I donated a cake to the DDF dessert auction...and it sold for over 200$...Yikes, sure hope it was worth it!

we got a family pict. the sunday we were at Mom and Dads..
The cake again.. It was dark chocolate with raspberry filling.

we've had so much snow this year.... Danny made a huge pile and the kids had fun jumping off of it.. we went to the neighbors and jumped off their deck.. whee!

Back in Idaho...such cuties!

The floor in the kitchen and entry partly torn up.. there was vinel flooring over the top of hardwood..

I finished a quilt for a friend...but it is the quilting that really makes it special! Carol McConahey did an amazing job!

And now with the downstairs all tore up , my sewing is all put away... and i really miss sewing... sigh... so I really want to bake...but I started weightwatchers...and cake isn't really something i can have very often... SO glad for the few folks who have asked for me to make something!

Back in So Cal.. that is my handsome man!

And my adorable daughter! And precious kiddos!

I got some fun picts when were at the cabin in Oregon with Danny's folks...

Aubrey was the flower girl... and she said Carson was the "raindeer" (ring bearer).

They did great...although once Aubrey realized that everyone was looking at her she turned shy...so glad big brother was there! =-)

With Grammy and Grandpa

And Mom and Dad...
Chad and Rachel, the happy couple!

And another one of my precious punkin!
Whew..>I guess I didn't really get any good picts of ALL the snow...I'll have to keep looking, I thought I got some... anyway.. I am looking forward to my birthday because I can make a CAKE!!! actually I have an order for a dino cake this next week... YAY! There is something so soothing about holding a loaded pastry bag.....
